Skat!

Skat! A dog’s journey to a tail-wagging life (2024)

by Oslo Norcross
Illustrated by Anne-Marit Bergstrom

Written by Anne-Marit’s Grandson, Oslo, this heartwarming intergenerational book tells the story of a stray dog who believed his name was ‘Skat,’ as that’s all he ever heard. One day, a grumpy old man takes him in, and both their lives are transformed forever.

This book is dedicated to Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue (CHDR), a nonprofit organization helping animals find loving homes. Since May 2010, CHDR has matched nearly 20,000 dogs, cats, and pocket pets with families. All proceeds from this book are donated to support Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue and their ongoing efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome pets in need.

Santa and Whatzizname

Santa and Whatzizname (2001)

by Anne-Marit Bergstrom

This Christmas story is a spirit-lifting, philosophical fantasy that will delight the young and young at heart. In this book Snarlie, Santa’s eldest and most influential elf, tells of a moment in time when the Jolly Old Soul had difficulty getting ready for Christmas on time — the Christmas that almost wasn’t. He convinces Santa and the elves: “You can if you believe you can.”

The second series of Santa paintings can be seen on display at the Holiday Inn Express in Saint Croix Falls, WI each Christmastime.

Note Cards

Dakota Drawings began with note cards — it was Aunt Belle Mehus who suggested the name when Anne-Marit created her first set to celebrate Ramsey County’s centennial. Over the years the collection grew to include several series, each featuring her original artwork.

Wearable Art

Anne-Marit’s Santa paintings found their way onto sweatshirts and t-shirts — and found a devoted following. One young fan wore his Santa sweatshirt so faithfully through winter and into spring that when summer made it too warm, his mother ordered the design on t-shirts in every color of the rainbow. He wore them daily and called them his “Santa and Rudolph shirts.”
